American novelist and educator
Jon Hassler (March 30, – March 20, )[1] was an American writer and teacher known for his novels about small-town life in Minnesota. He held the positions of Regents professor emeritus and writer-in-residence at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota.

[edit]Hassler was born in Minneapolis on March 30, He spent his childhood and teen years in the Minnesota towns of Staples and Plainview, where he graduated from high school. Biografi
[redigera | redigera wikitext]Hassler var ordförande för Elevförbundet –, i Elevorganisationen i Sverige –, ledamot av Värnpliktsrådet – Han blev filosofie doktor i nationalekonomi vid Massachusetts Institute of Technology med avhandlingen Effects of Variations in Risk on Demand and Measures of Business Cycle Fluctuations, under handledning av professor Olivier Blanchard.[3] Han är professor vid Institutet för internationell ekonomi vid Stockholms universitet sedan där han är biträdande föreståndare sedan John Hassler är ledamot av Kungliga Ingenjörsvetenskapsakademien IVA och Kungliga Vetenskapsakademin KVA.

John Hassler is Professor of Economics at the Institute for International Economic Studies at Stockholm University. Professor Hassler obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from MIT in He has been teaching subsequently at Stockholm University. His research has covered areas of dynamic public finance, social mobility, growth and climate change. His work has been published in American Economic Review, Econometrica, Journal of Political Economy and many other international journals. He is member of the Prize Committee for the Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, where he has served since December apart for one year. He was the Chairman of the Swedish Fiscal Policy Council and is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. He worked as advisor to the Swedish Ministry of Finance during the financial crisis and is a member of the Finance Minister’s Economic Council He serves as scientific advisor to several Swedish government agencies. He was member of the European Economic Advisory Group between and He has also been a member of the Bellagio group of academics and central bankers.
