Yes. Born on October 5, , Ray Kroc (pictured below, left) lied about his age to serve in World War inom as a Red Cross ambulance driver. He started training in when he was only 15 and was sent to France in Though not shown in the movie, the real Ray Kroc met fellow Illinois native Walt Disney (pictured right) while training for the Red Cross. Disney had also lied about his age. The two men served in Ambulance Company A together but did not stay in touch much after the war, that is until Kroc contacted Disney more than three decades later, in late , about putting a McDonald's on Disney theme park property (it didn't happen, not until the late s).

The Founder is a American biographicaldrama film directed by John Lee Hancock and written by Robert Siegel. Starring Michael Keaton as businessman Ray Kroc, the film depicts the story of his creation of the McDonald's fast-food restaurant chain, which eventually involved forcing out the company's original founders to take control with conniving ruthlessness. Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch co-star as McDonald's founders Richard and Maurice McDonald, alongside Linda Cardellini as Ray Kroc's third wife Joan Smith, and B. J. Novak as McDonald's president and chief executive Harry J. Sonneborn.[6]
The film premiered at Arclight Hollywood on December 7, , and was released theatrically in the United States on January 20, , by the Weinstein Company. It grossed $24 million worldwide and received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised the performances of Keaton and Offerman.
